If I told Mississippi State had a shot at a quarterback that threw for 3,300 yards and 36 touchdowns as a junior would it get your attention? What if I said he also ran for 850 yards and 17 touchdowns as well? That’s the amazing numbers that Skyline High School (Dallas, TX) quarterback Devante Kincaide posted during his junior year on the gridiron.
Like all good quarterbacks, Kincaide see’s an opportunity for improvement heading into his senior season. With some good coaching and hard work, Kincaide feels like he he can help the school that lands him achieve great things with him under center.
“I want to focus on the little things,” said the 6 foot 2 180 pound signal caller. “I want to spend a ton of time in the film room reading defenses. I want to know when I walk up to the line that I can check into a better play if I need to. I want to be able to pick defenses apart and prove I am a pass first quarterback. I can also pull it down if nothing is there and get yards if I need to. I want to know that I have everything in my arsenal to be one of the best quarterbacks out there.”
To say that a lot of schools are interested in Kincaide is an understatement. Several programs from the “power conferences” are stayng in contact with Kincaide. Playing for one of those schools is a dream come true for the talented quarterback, and what he hopes his future holds for him.
“I am hearing from Mississippi State, Illinois, Texas, Oregon, LSU, Kansas State, and Colorado,” said Kincaide. “I want to play for a team that runs a spread attack. I think that’s where I am at my best. I can play in any offense but I feel like I shine in the spread. I think playing in the SEC would be awesome.
“I am getting a ton of mail from Mississippi State,” he added. “I absolutely love that offense. I have been doing a lot of research on them and checking them out because I think I could fit in very well at MSU. I plan on coming down there and checking them out very soon. Coach Mullen needs to understand that I really like Mississippi State and really want that offer. If they do offer, I will think long and hard about it. It’s the SEC after all.”
