Bulldawg Junction has learned the Mississippi State amusement ride comes to a close as Greg Byrne announces his selection for the 32nd head coach of the Bulldogs, Dan Mullen. There is no secret that the search was “top secret” for the past eleven days but when the dust settled the former Florida Gator Offensive Coordinator won the race.
As one of the top assistant coaches in the NCAA Mullen help pilot the Gators to a spot in the national championship game this season with an offense that posts over 45 points per game. The Gator attack ranks third in the NCAA in scoring while scoring on over 50 percent of their positions this season.
Mullen, a coaching veteran of 14 years, has been with Urban Meyer since his days as a graduate assistant at Notre Dame. During his time along side Meyer he has been known for his development of consistent quarterback play having worked with Chris Leake, Tim Tebow, Alex Smith, and Josh Harris.
He has served as the Florida offensive coordinator since 2005 and has been a part of two teams who have advance to the national title game.
